Ricki Lanyi

Ricki Lanyi

Patterson Golf Park has been family operated for over 30 years. Ricki Lanyi is the owner of Patterson Golf and Sports Park.  Her father and one of his golf  buddies bought the land in the 1960’s  because it was next to their favorite golf course, Oak Hill.  Two of their golfing friends decided to put a driving range and mini golf course on the land.  So, for 35 years those golfing friends and later their son ran what was known as Puttaway.  Ricki grew up playing mini golf there as did many Richmonders.  In fact, some grandparents have shared stories about their birthday parties at Puttaway while they are hosting their grandchildren’s birthday parties at Patterson Golf.

In December of 2000, Ricki Lanyi reinvigorated the park and brought it back to life.  Ricki was loved by all and she always offered a warm smile, a bit of sass, and plenty of charm to those who greeted her at the golf hut.  Ricki repainted all of the figurines that you see at Patterson Golf Park on her own and with the help of her four children and husband, Thomas Lanyi. Ricki loved coming to the park everyday to mow, pick balls, neaten up, and just have fun.  Ricki was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2014 and passed away in 2015.  She is continually missed by all who knew and loved her.  Her memory is preserved at Patterson Golf Park by all of the employees, clients, and family members who continue to keep the golf park a fun, family-friendly getaway.
